Experiences and Events.

FCPS Middle School Guidance & Counseling Guide. FCPS Department of Student Services and Special Education Secondary Guidance Services. 2003.

The Experiences and Events sheet is found in the FCPS Middle School Guidance & Counseling Guide. It is an excellent tool for school counselors to assist students in career development. It lists possible events and ideas that can help students get real-world experience regarding career. Many suggested events are school-wide, as to include the entire school population. Some experiences and events include career fairs, college fairs, job shadowing, specialized career days (math, science and technology), and a celebration of National Career Development Month (November), where there can be a focus on career in the school.

  Experiences and Events

Career experiences and events are opportunities for students to participate in the world of work to gain a better understanding of who they are and where they want to go.  Opportunities for internships job shadowing, mentoring, informational interviews, networking and participation in technology and career fairs are encouraged.

Career Fairs and Job Fairs
