Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Program

Target Audience: High School and College Students

Although this fellowship is only awarded to college seniors, asking students to create a proposal for the fellowship is an excellent career development tool for high school and college students. By participating in this career development activity, students will reflect of their talents and strengths, personal commitments and global concerns. When working with college seniors, this fellowship provides post graduation plans to those who are not drawn to graduate school or traditional “work” environments.

The Watson Fellowship Program awards 50 graduating college seniors a $25,000 dollar grant to travel the world for an independent study for 1 year. This unique opportunity provides graduating college seniors with an opportunity to, “Enhance their capacity for resourcefulness, imagination, openness, and leadership and to foster their humane and effective participation in the world community.” (http://www.watsonfellowship.org/site/what/descriptions.html)
